The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), alongside the Ministry of Health and Prevention, has confirmed the country is fully prepared to respond to any developments related to hantavirus and other health threats.
During a meeting of the National Team for the Management of Emergencies, Crises, and Disasters Related to Human Epidemics, officials reviewed the UAE’s surveillance systems, precautionary measures and coordination efforts with local and international partners.
Authorities said precautionary monitoring measures remain in place as part of the UAE’s proactive approach to protecting public health, while healthcare facilities and medical teams remain ready to respond effectively to any situation if needed.
Officials also urged the public to rely on official sources for information and avoid spreading inaccurate reports.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has classified hantavirus as a low-risk disease in terms of global spread, noting that transmission between humans is limited, with most infections linked to contact with rodents or contaminated environments.
The WHO added that the current situation does not indicate any risk of a potential pandemic.
