UAE President joins Etihad Rail journey as Dubai station is inaugurated

Etihad Rail’s new passenger station in Dubai has been inaugurated ahead of the launch of public services between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah on September 30.

In the presence of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the station was inaugurated on Monday by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, and Chairman of Etihad Rail.

Ahead of the official launch, Sheikh Mohamed travelled by Etihad Rail from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, where he was briefed on the passenger train system, its national objectives and the services being provided to enhance the passenger experience.

Upon arrival in Dubai, His Highness met with national staff working on the project and took commemorative photographs with them.

Sheikh Hamdan and Sheikh Theyab also toured the Dubai station, reviewing its facilities, services and operational systems, including technologies designed to streamline the passenger journey — from ticket booking and station procedures to boarding and reaching the final destination.

Tickets can be purchased through the Etihad Rail app and website, as well as ticket machines at stations, with fares starting at AED 39 for Comfort Class and AED 109 for Premium Class.

The Dubai station is also designed to connect the national rail network with the emirate’s wider transport system.

It is linked to Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station by a dedicated pedestrian bridge, allowing passengers to transfer directly between Etihad Rail and the Dubai Metro.

Integration with Dubai’s Nol system will also enable passengers to combine Etihad Rail and public transport journeys using a unified QR code, covering trains, the Metro, tram and buses.
