UN Special Envoy hails UAE's support for Yemen ceasefire efforts

WAM

The United Nations' Special Envoy for Yemen has hailed the UAE's support to achieve peace and stability in the country.

Martin Griffiths praised the UAE's role during a meeting in Abu Dhabi with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash.

They discussed the latest political developments in Yemen as well as the ongoing ceasefire efforts.

Dr. Gargash said the UAE will continue to support the UN and Saudi Arabia in putting an end to the Yemeni crisis.

He highlighted the Kingdom's role in promoting peace in the region, citing the Riyadh Agreement, the full implementation of which, he said, is conducive to enhancing the prospects of a political settlement in Yemen.

"The UAE, being part of the Arab Coalition in Yemen, will continue to support the Saudi and UN endeavours to reach a ceasefire in Yemen in order to stop the bloodshed and usher in the political process needed for ensuring stability and prosperity in the country," explained Dr. Gargash.
