Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has collected AED 4.42 billion in digital revenue in 2024, marking a 16 per cent growth compared to the previous year.

The total number of transactions across digital channels reached 679.6 million.

Meanwhile, parking tickets issued through smart applications grew to 29.973 million, marking a 24 per cent increase.

Marking the growth in digital services, Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, said the authority aims to "lead in harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver exceptional services, develop innovative solutions, and increase residents’ and visitors’ happiness".

So far, more than 33 services use AI technology on the RTA app, including Samsung portfolio for storing driver and vehicle licences. Furthermore, the RTA has expanded the use of generative AI in running its virtual assistant Mahboub Chatbot to use to enhance quality of responses to customer inquiries. Additionally, the RTA installed five smart kiosks across the city to facilitate online payments, and upgraded its website to include the ability to rent spaces at tram and metro stations with 360-degree views of available locations.

The Madinati service has been transformed into a fully integrated digital city service, incorporating Dubai Municipality, using AI technologies to analyse images, identify issues, determine responsible authorities, and automatically generate descriptions.

Among the 46 services launched on RTA's 'Dubai Now' app include driver and vehicle licencing, sale, registration and export.
