DXB sets traffic record with 7.7 million passengers in August

Dubai International (DXB) has set a new record for monthly passenger traffic, welcoming more than 7.7 million travellers in August. The record-breaking numbers – a year-on-year increase of 6.1 per cent – were mainly driven by the seasonal rush of travellers, mostly UAE families returning for the new academic year. Eastern Europe was the fastest-growing market, while India remained the top destination country, followed by the UK and Saudi Arabia. The average number of passengers per flight during the month was 237, but total aircraft movements were down 2.7 per cent and cargo volume dropped 3.1 per cent.
