Attack on key US military base in Afghanistan leaves one dead

At least one person has been killed and more than 60 others injured after five gunmen attacked the main US military base in the Afghan city of Bagram.

According to reports, two attackers detonated explosive-laden vehicles while the other three engaged in a 30-minute clash with the security forces.

It is unclear how many of the insurgents were killed, but officials say majority of casualties were Afghan. 

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

The attack comes as the US looks to revive stalled peace talks with Taliban militants.
