A prominent filmmaker has been handed a one-year prison term in Myanmar for criticising the military on facebook.
Min Htin Ko Ko Gyi's facebook posts criticised the military's role in politics and the country's 2008 constitution.
His lawyer said he would appeal the ruling.
"His writings do not comply with the characteristics of the section he was charged with," San Aung said. "It didn't cause mutiny or disrespect within the military".
Human Rights Watch and Maung Saungkha, an activist with the human rights organisation Athan, condemned the ruling.
