Why are Venezuelans rushing to Peru?

CRIS BOURONCLE / AFP

Hordes of Venezuelans have made a last minute dash to cross the Peru border.

They're trying to get there before new and tougher migration laws are introduced.

As of midnight local time on Saturday, Venezuelan citizens need to have a valid passport and visa if they want to enter Peru.

Thousand are attempting to escape the ongoing the economic crisis in Venezuela.
