Police in the capital have issued a ban on trucks, heavy vehicles and buses from roads during times of low visibility caused by fog.
Heavy vehicle drivers are urged to abide by the decision, which police say is designed to increase road safety and minimise accidents caused by fog.
Any violations will incur a fine of AED 500 and 4 traffic points according to ministerial decision No. 178 of 2017 on rules and procedures for controlling Traffic according to Article 104 "Traffic in times of mist in violation of the instructions of the concerned entity".
This follows a bad week on the nation's roads including three fatalities in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday morning.
