An emergency response exercise will be carried out at the Barakah nuclear energy plant in Abu Dhabi later this month.
It aims to assess the readiness levels of the UAE’s nuclear and radiological emergency response systems.
The exercise, which is set to take place on October 11, will simulate emergency scenarios at the Barakah plant and its surrounding areas.
The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters is organising the drill in collaboration with various strategic partners, including the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health and Prevention, Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, National Emergency Crisis & Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, Abu Dhabi Crisis and Disaster Management Centre, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Nawah Energy Company and ADNOC.
Planned as a biennial event going forward, the UAE Barakah Exercise will last for 36 hours continuously under the supervision of NCEMA.
