Teachers in public schools could see their status boosted with promotion and financial incentives to equal other professions in the UAE, following the Federal National Council's (FNC) adoption of new recommendations.
Nineteen suggestions by the UAE Ministry of Education have been adopted by the Council.
These include regulating the number of classes and the drafting of a law to implement remote learning standards in both public and private schools.
The Council also recommended the wider availability of low-cost monthly internet packages, cyber attack safeguards for e-learning platforms and increasing the number of Arabic language programmes in public schools.
In addition, a healthcare guide will be made available to address the risks facing students, especially those with chronic diseases and People of Determination.
Further recommendations include cooperating with independent research centres to evaluate educational curriculums before approving them, accelerating the construction of comprehensive school complexes around the country that are capable of facing different climate conditions and enabling students to practice various activities.
The Council highlighted the role of the Ministry in monitoring public and private schools to ensure education quality, tracking school tuition rises, encouraging Emirati investors to invest in the education sector, managing the implementation of unified regulations for managing student behaviours related to bullying.
It also commended the Ministry for encouraging cooperation and coordination between schools and parents, promoting transparent and direct communication between the ministry, the media and all segments of the community, and drafting a unified protocol covering the precautionary measures aimed at limiting the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and other emergencies.
