A seven-year-old boy has died after being left behind accidentally inside a locked vehicle in Sharjah.
The incident was reported to the police control room on Tuesday afternoon.
Investigations revealed that the boy's parents had contracted a female driver to transport their children to school.
When they reached the school, everyone got out of the car except for the boy. The driver then parked the vehicle near the school and locked it without checking if anyone was still inside.
The child remained unnoticed until the end of the school day, when he was found dead inside the vehicle.
Following the tragic incident, Sharjah Police have warned against the dangers of hiring drivers without permits for school pick-ups and drop-offs.
The authority has urged parents to either use designated school buses or their personal cars to transport their children to and from school.
