Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a Transport Data Analysis Laboratory to improve traffic management, predict congestion and enhance road safety across the emirate.

The facility, based at the RTA's Enterprise Command and Control Centre, collects and analyses data from buses, the metro, trams, taxis, private vehicles and other transport modes.

Using artificial intelligence and predictive models, it helps authorities make faster, smarter decisions during major events and daily operations.

Mohammed Al Ali, Director of the Command Centre, said the lab can forecast traffic patterns, identify accident-prone areas and support smoother, safer journeys for everyone.

The laboratory is supplied with real-time data from more than 35 sources covering various modes of transport, in coordination with operational centres and relevant departments.

"It also automates more than 150 operational performance indicators, enhancing planning effectiveness, on-ground coordination, response speed, and the evaluation of implemented or pre-planned policies," added Al Ali.

The facility recently analysed traffic during GITEX 2025, helping reduce congestion and guide planning for future events.
