Funding remains major obstacle in sheltering victims of violence

Funding remains one of the key challenges faced by non-profit organisations sheltering victims of violence. That’s according to the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC), which says the average daily cost of providing care services can range between AED 600 to AED 900 per individual. The money mainly goes towards housing, food, healthcare, transportation and meeting personal needs, with the bulk of support coming from individuals and corporate entities. However, the DFWAC says unforeseen circumstances often pose additional challenges.
