As many as 2,527 fines and warnings have been issued in Dubai against people violating movement restrictions during the national sterilisation programme.
The majority of them were pulled up by police for leaving their homes for non-essential purposes.
Motorists were also warned for carrying more than three passengers in a vehicle, while others were caught violating the social distancing rule and not wearing masks in closed areas.
Authorities have once again urged residents to stay at home and strictly follow the precautionary measures in place during the disinfection drive.
Here's the break-up of fines and warnings issued:
- 2,076 warnings and eight fines for stepping out for non-essential purposes
- 204 warnings and one fine for exceeding three passengers in a vehicle
- 233 warnings as well as five fines for not wearing masks in closed areas or for violating the social distancing rule
