Authorities in Dubai are taking further steps to ramp up food safety measures.
A new food testing laboratory has been set up by the Municipality to check pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables.
The facility at the Fruits and Vegetables Market in Warsan will also carry out electronic tests on other food items, including milk, grains, spices and honey.
It's equipped with the latest technologies and is divided into specific testing sections in line with international standards.
"The first of its kind lab constitutes a qualitative addition that provides services to the food suppliers in Dubai and enhances consumer confidence in the products available in the market," said Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality.
