More than 390 delivery bicycles have been impounded in Dubai over the past three months as part of joint patrols by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police to monitor commercial transport activities.
The patrols focused on areas such as Al Muraqqabat, Dubai Marina, Dubai Silicon Oasis and Downtown Dubai, ensuring that riders and companies comply with licensing and safety regulations.
Saeed Al Ramsi, Director of Licensing Activities Monitoring at the RTA's Licensing Agency, said the bicycle delivery sector is growing rapidly and requires strict oversight to maintain safety and high service standards for the public.
Patrols check that bikes meet safety requirements, including front and rear lights, reflectors, bells and functional brakes.
Riders must wear helmets, reflective vests and protective gear, use designated lanes, use roads with speed limits under 60 km/h, and stop only in approved areas.
Al Ramsi added that the RTA regularly runs awareness campaigns and inspections with strategic partners, briefing delivery companies on regulations to protect riders and other road users.
