A major crackdown on unsafe jet ski activity in Dubai has led to over 400 fines and the seizure of dozens of watercraft.
Dubai Police, in partnership with the Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA), conducted a rigorous inspection campaign across the city’s coastline.
The operation resulted in 431 violations and 41 jet skis being impounded for non-compliance.
Authorities say the campaign aimed to boost maritime safety and cut down on reckless behaviour.
Offences included expired licences, entering restricted swimming areas, failing to wear life jackets, overloading, and even underage jet ski operation. Fines ranged from AED 1,000 to AED 2,000.
Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed Al Maktoum, CEO of DMA, emphasised the importance of fostering a culture of responsibility among sea-goers and enhancing compliance through advanced technologies.
Brigadier Dr. Hassan Suhail, Director of the Ports Police Station added that patrols and rescue teams remain on high alert, and urged the public to follow regulations, use safety gear, and report emergencies via the 'Sail Safely' feature on the Dubai Police app or by calling 999.
- Operating a jet ski with an expired licence: AED 1,000 fine
- Failure to wear a life jacket or helmet: AED 1,000
- Disturbing or harassing others: AED 2,000
- Non-compliance with designated marine sports areas: AED 1,000
