Sharjah Police have foiled an attempt to smuggle gold jewellery worth AED 800,000 out of the country.
Officers stepped in after being alerted about a theft at a gold store in Khor Fakkan.
Following investigation, they traced the gold and found it concealed in a shipping container.
The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action, with an operation under way to nab those involved in the crime.
The force has advised jewellery shop owners to ensure valuables are securely locked away and under constant surveillance.
