Abu Dhabi Police are recommending a third rear license plate for vehicles that sport a boot-attached bike rack.
The initiative is aimed at motorists who may have to obscure the rear plates to fix a rear-mounted cycle rack.
The authorities clarified that blocking a vehicle's plate is a fineable offence.
According to Article 27B of the Ministerial Decision No. 178 (2017), unclear vehicle plate numbers attract a fine of AED 400.
Dubai announced a similar license plate addition in September 2021.
