Candidates in the UAE’s Federal National Council (FNC) elections are gearing up for the campaigning phase, which starts in less than two weeks.
More than 550 Emiratis have registered so far, and the final list of contenders will be out next week.
The deadline for filing appeals against candidates ended on Wednesday. The election committee did not receive any appeals over the two-day period but withdrawal requests were sent by two candidates in Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi.
September 15 is the deadline for contestants to withdraw their applications, while the election campaigns will run for 27 days, from September 8 until October 4.
The main election day will be on October 5 but Emiratis living overseas can vote on September 22 and 23.
