The UAE has joined Egypt, Qatar, Palestine, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Turkey in rejecting Israel's renewed attacks in Gaza and calling for the need to move to the second phase of the ceasefire.
During talks with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas in Cairo on Sunday, UAE’s minister of state, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, along with members of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Gaza were joined by the Secretary-General of the Arab League and the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
The officials also demanded the immediate removal of all restrictions on humanitarian aid to Gaza and emphasised the need to restore essential services.
They endorsed the Arab Recovery and Reconstruction Plan presented at the Cairo Summit on March 4 and rejected any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank. They stressed the necessity of preserving the territorial integrity of the occupied Palestinian territories, in line with UN resolutions and the two-state solution framework.
The officials also discussed the role of the European Union in working towards bringing peace to the region.
