The UAE's leaders have expressed their condolences following the death of Britain's Prince Philip.
President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a cable of condolences to Queen Elizabeth II.
Similar messages of condolences were also sent by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also paid his tribute in a tweet, describing the late Duke of Edinburgh as a close friend of the UAE.
"A close friend to the UAE and other nations, he will always be remembered for his devotion to his country and people," said His Highness.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed his sympathies in a tweet and offered condolences to the Royal Family, and the British people.
