UAE opens rehab centre for injured Palestinians

WAM

The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), in collaboration with Emirates Humanitarian City, has inaugurated an integrated centre to assess and provide rehabilitation, care, and support for injured Palestinians.

This initiative, reflecting the UAE's commitment to aiding the Palestinian people, follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The centre is part of a broader humanitarian effort to treat 1,000 injured Palestinians and 1,000 cancer patients affected by the Gaza conflict. It aims to enhance the quality of life for beneficiaries and support their reintegration into society.

The facility, housed within Emirates Humanitarian City, offers comprehensive services, including medical and psychological assessments, physical and occupational therapy, speech and auditory rehabilitation, and education tailored for people of determination.

ZHO specialists have already evaluated 123 cases and continue to provide around 80 weekly therapy sessions for those in need.

Services also include prosthetic limb installation, wheelchair provision, and training in Braille for visually impaired individuals. Hearing aids have been supplied to 11 beneficiaries, while a dedicated hearing rehabilitation class has been established to integrate hearing-impaired children into Emirati schools.

Maryam Mohammed Al Obaidli, Head of the Comprehensive Diagnostic Centre at ZHO, emphasised the organisation’s mission to integrate patients into public life, with over 100 cases, including children and elderly individuals, currently receiving support.
