The leaders of the UAE and Malta have explored ways to build on the longstanding relations between their countries.
This came during talks between UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his Maltese counterpart George Vella, who is on an official visit to the country.
During the meeting at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi, the two leaders discussed opportunities to enhance ties in various sectors, including investment, trade, renewable energy, food security, environment and innovation.
They also reviewed a number of regional and international developments, stressing the keenness of the two countries as UN Security Council members, to work together to support peace, stability and cooperation across the world.
The meeting also touched on the COP28 climate conference to be hosted by the UAE later this year.
Sheikh Mohamed said that relations between the UAE and Malta are growing steadily, with this year marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.
