On the occasion of World Refugee Day on June 20, the UAE has reaffirmed its deep commitment to supporting refugees and addressing global displacement through humanitarian and development efforts.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, emphasised the country's leadership in highlighting refugee issues and alleviating their suffering.
He highlighted the country’s early recognition of the impact of conflict and instability on displacement, noting that the UAE has dedicated significant resources to promoting peace, tolerance and coexistence in vulnerable regions.
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted major UAE contributions, including education initiatives like the UAE Digital School and the Fund for Refugee Women, which empowers female refugees socially and economically.
He also praised the Emirates Red Crescent’s frontline role in supporting refugees and managing camps worldwide, and commended the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for its efforts in delivering aid and stability to millions.
Sheikh Hamdan called on the international community to intensify efforts to ease the global refugee crisis and ensure dignity and opportunity for displaced populations.
