Senior UAE officials have held talks with their Danish counterparts to reaffirm the country's commitment to COVID-19 testing protocols in line with international standards.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with Denmark's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeppe Kofod, to discuss deepening cooperation and information sharing to collectively combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
The UAE's Minister of Health and Prevention, Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, also spoke with Danish Health Minister, Magnus Heunicke, to confirm the integrity of testing in the UAE and the country's overall compliance with regulatory mechanisms.
The talks have been held following Denmark's recent decision to temporarily suspend flights from the UAE, citing concerns about the reliability of tests.
The UAE ministers stressed their commitment to working with their Danish counterparts to jointly address concerns as they arise.
They are also awaiting clarification on the details of cases behind Denmark's decision to suspend flights, including additional information on the timing and location of positive cases that reportedly travelled from the UAE to Denmark.
The ministers highlighted that to date, over 25 million COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the UAE.
