The UAE has welcomed the signing of the Black Sea Grain Export deal between Russia and Ukraine.

The UAE also commended the efforts of Turkey and the United Nations for brokering the deal that will allow Ukraine to resume grain exports from Black Sea ports.

During a phone call with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan noted that the deal is a major stride in the right direction, adding that its prompt implementation will help avoid a global food crisis.

Sheikh Mohamed stressed the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and underscored the UAE's keenness on supporting efforts aimed at enhancing security, and promoting peace and stability.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) reaffirmed that the agreement signed in Istanbul is a positive step that will ease a global supply crunch sparked by the Ukraine conflict.
