The UAE has called the peace deal between Thailand and Cambodia a significant step towards strengthening security and stability in Southeast Asia.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasised the importance of building on this significant step as a foundation for continued constructive dialogue, good neighbourly relations that is vital for peace, development and prosperity.
The peace deal was signed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during a summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on October 26. The agreement includes an enhanced ceasefire deal that builds on the truce previously initiated by Trump in July to improve relations between the two nations.
The UAE, in its statement, praised the diplomatic efforts of US President Donald Trump in ensuring the peace deal was reached.
The UAE also underscored the pivotal role that Malaysia played in facilitating the negotiations, along with regional and international efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.
