The Arabian Ocean Rowing Team has completed the first 500km of their 5,000 km journey across the Atlantic Ocean.
Having spent the last seven days battling storms, big waves and rough weather in a rowing boat the length of two cars the team were delighted with their progress.
Arabian Ocean Rowing Team Founder, Toby Gregory, said: "It’s been a tough first five days but the team have pulled together well. The ocean has thrown everything it can at us and we are still going strong. Despite the stormy conditions and being miles away from land, we have still recorded numerous instances of pollution - it’s just awful."
“As conditions settle at the end of this week we will use the plankton net to begin our trawl for microplastics as part of the work we are doing to support the UN Enviroment Programmes ‘Clean Seas’ initiative”.
