Australia beat India by five wickets in Perth ODI

Australia have registered a five-wicket win over India in the first One-Day International in Perth. Chasing India’s score of 303-9, the Aussies won the game with 4 balls remaining. It was the highest ever successful run chase in an ODI at the venue. Captain Steve Smith (149) and middle order batsman George Bailey (112) put on a record 242-run partnership for the third wicket. Earlier Indian opener Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 171 off 163 balls to notch his fourth hundred in 19 games against Australia. Debutante Barinder Sran was the pick of the Indian bowlers with three wickets. Game 2 of the five-match series will be played in Brisbane on January 15.
