Maria Sharapova overcame top seed Simona Halep to close in on the last-four of the WTA Finals. The five-time Grand Slam winner won 6-4, 6-4 in Singapore to move top of the Red Group. It was only the second full match Sharapova has had since Wimbledon, with the former world number one suffering from a series of injuries.
