NBA: 76ers get first win of season by beating Lakers

The Philadelphia 76ers ended the longest losing streak in US sport with a 103-91 victory over the LA Lakers. The 76ers hadn’t won since last season, a run stretching 28 games. It came as the spotlight was on Philadelphia-born Lakers star Kobe Bryant, who’s announced that he’ll retire at the end of the season. He was given a rapturous reception and left the court to the home fans chanting his name. The 76ers move to 1-18, with the Lakers on 2-15.
