In an interview with Dubai Eye 103.8's Business Breakfast show, the UAE's Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri stated that a 40-day conflict will not determine the country's economic future, highlighting its strength, power, and ability to "bounce back".
The minister noted that the country's response is reflected through its several initiatives, programmes, and federals that were put in place since the Iranian attacks on the UAE began on February 28.
Speaking to the public, the minister highlighted that the country's leadership and communication prove its resilience:
In regard to the tourism sector, the minister stated the country's support for over 10,000 tourists during the conflict, noting that they were assisted from accommodation to meals and even returning home.
He added that the sector is backed by a strong infrastructure even during the challenging times, and revealed that a new package is set to be announced to further boost the area:
The minister also emphasised the efforts taken to ensure the market's stability, including the ministry's dedicated operations room alongside continuous tracking of the market prices to avoid any increases that are not approved by the authority. The ministry also shared some advice to consumers during this period:
He further added that the authority's priority has been to listen to the consumers' concerns and solve them efficiently, including the minister's visit on the ground to inspect and hear the community:
Communication, planning, coordination, and consumer satisfaction continue to be the top priority in the UAE's economic and tourism sector, especially during the regional developments.
