Authorities in Abu Dhabi have announced an update to the health insurance requirements for Golden Visa applicants.
The move aims to make the process easier for all those applying from inside and outside of the country and facilitate a smooth transition for them to live and settle in Abu Dhabi.
- Employed staff transferring to a golden visa will continue to be covered by their employer’s health insurance policy.
- Meanwhile, non-employees will be required to apply for health insurance for themselves and their family members while ensuring the validity of the policy throughout the period that they reside in the UAE.
- In case they don't have health insurance, individuals must provide a consent form to attain one or they will be required to cover all costs related to their healthcare.
The guidelines were announced by the Department of Health–Abu Dhabi (DoH) in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Residents Office (ADRO).
