Dubai Police has intensified efforts to combat illegal street vending during Ramadan.
Ten vendors have been arrested for selling food products in public areas without proper licences and operating in unhygienic conditions.
The crackdown is part of the ongoing “A Conscious Society, Free of Beggars” campaign.
Colonel Ahmad Al Adeedi, Deputy Director of the Suspects and Criminal Phenomena Department, said that such illegal activities not only breach safety standards but also create unsightly makeshift markets in public spaces, particularly near labour accommodation areas.
Health concerns are also significant, as unregulated food products are often stored and sold under unsafe conditions, increasing the risk of foodborne illnesses.
Major Talib Al Amiri, Head of the Street Vendors Control Section, urged the public to avoid purchasing from unauthorised vendors and instead rely on licensed businesses to ensure food safety.
Dubai Police continues to patrol areas around the clock, working with partner authorities to crack down on violations.
Residents are encouraged to report any illegal vending activities through the 901 Call Centre or the ‘Police Eye’ service on the Dubai Police App.
