A total of 104,838 overnight tourists from Japan passed through Dubai in 2018.
That's according to Dubai Tourism, which recorded a 15.3 per cent year-on-year increase in overnight travelers from the East Asian nation.
Further statistics also show the Emirate fared well among young Japanese women with a 21 per cent increase in social media mentions from 2016 to 2018.
The tourists were able to take advantage of daily flights to the UAE, from Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda and Kansai International Airport in Osaka.
Visitors from Japan to #Dubai surpassed 100,000 in 2018 for the first time ever. @DubaiTourism found that the 15% year-on-year increase was supported by daily flights to Dubai from Tokyo and Osaka airports, as well as the appeal of Dubai’s variety of attractions and experiences. pic.twitter.com/HcrHIGHZ5g
