As many as 472 prisoners in Dubai have been pardoned on the occasion of the UAE's 49th National Day.
It follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The Public Prosecution has started coordinating with Dubai Police and other official entities to implement the release order as soon as possible.
Sheikh Mohammed's gesture is aimed at giving the pardoned inmates an opportunity to start a new life and reintegrate into society. It will also help ease the distress of their families.
