His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has given his approval for a raft of developments by the Roads and Transport Authority. The projects include an expansion of the airport road to help absorb passenger traffic, which is forecast to reach 95 million over the next five years. The metro’s Route 2020, which will pass through several densely populated areas such as Discovery Gardens and Jumeirah Golf Estates, was also approved by His Highness. Other developments include the Bluewaters Island, the Deira Islands Canal, and road expansions related to Expo 2020.
