Hit-and-run driver arrested within hour of fleeing scene

An 18-year-old motorist involved in a hit-and-run case in Ajman has been arrested within an hour of the accident.

According to the Ajman Police, the driver fled the scene after running over a 60-year-old man as he was crossing the Corniche Street in Al-Nakhil Region 2.

The victim was rushed to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Officials said the timely report from an eyewitness helped them to speed up their response.

Senior officials reminded the public to use designated pedestrian crossings and urged drivers to maintain speed limits and take accountability for their traffic violations.
