Authorities in the UAE are studying proposals to implement various projects to ease congestion on federal roads between Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
Constructing a new federal highway, adding lanes to existing roads and diverting traffic to alternative routes during peak hours are part of the plans.
This was revealed by Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, during the latest meeting of the Federal National Council (FNC).
He said that the ministry is carrying out feasibility studies in coordination with local government departments in various emirates.
The minister added that some of these projects, aimed at improving traffic flow, could be implemented in the second half of 2024, but plans for a new motorway would require extensive studies before being approved.
