With the start of the holy month of Ramadan, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out awareness initiatives aimed at improving traffic safety measures.
These initiatives mainly target workers, taxi drivers, heavy vehicle drivers, cyclists and e-scooter users.
The RTA has urged drivers to reflect the values of Ramadan by following traffic rules and respecting others on the road. They also warned about the dangers of driving while fatigued, especially during fasting hours when concentration may be affected.
In terms of truck movement during Ramadan, restrictions are in place from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM along the E11, between Sharjah and Interchange 7 on Sheikh Zayed Road, covering Al Ittihad Road, Sheikh Rashid Road and Sheikh Zayed Road, as well as in downtown Deira and Bur Dubai.
Additionally, the morning restriction in areas where the three-time daily truck ban applies, has been updated, with restrictions now in effect from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM and again from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Furthermore, the restriction on Emirates Road has been revised, with the ban now enforced from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
The RTA has also shared these tips for drivers:
- Avoid driving right after a heavy meal.
- Stay patient during fasting hours, plan your route, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
- Stay calm on the road, avoid arguments with other drivers, and help foster an atmosphere of tolerance and respect.
- Never sleep inside the vehicle with the windows closed—even with the air conditioning on, as this can lead to suffocation.
Coinciding with the start of the holy month of #Ramadan2025, #RTA has launched a series of awareness and educational initiatives targeting various segments of the community, including workers, taxi and heavy vehicle drivers, cyclists, and e-scooter users.
