A new AED 500 million Exhibition and Convention Centre is set to be built under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The Sharjah Ruler announced the commencement of the project following the purchase of an AED 146 million plot of land near the Emirates, Al Dhaid, and Khorfakkan roads.

The new location was selected in consideration of the traffic flow and residential areas, taking into account the safety and comfort of Sharjah residents from previous requests.

His Highness highlighted that the location of the new centre will ease accessibility, with an exit that allows motorists to both Sharjah and Al Sajaa area.

The project aims to be completed in November 2027, with the goal of hosting the 46th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair at the new centre, known to be usually held at Expo Center Sharjah.

A number of other events will also be moved to the new location, with the Expo Centre Sharjah to be focused more on trade fairs, according to the Sharjah Ruler.

Noting on traffic developments near the Expo Centre, he reassured the community of smoother traffic flow at the location, especially for the upcoming Sharjah International Book Fair in November 2026, with the development of roads leading to the area.

Future plans for an Etihad Rail train station near the Al Khulafa Al Rashideen crossroads on Al Wahda Street were also announced, which aim to enhance accessibility on the roads in the area.
