According to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), an Indian national tested positive for the virus after returning from his annual leave abroad.

The authority confirmed that all those who were in contact with the patient have tested negative.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the Emirates to 86 (63 of them are active), while the number of recovered cases has gone up to 23.

Two Emiratis and an Indian are the latest to be cleared. The Ministry said the three of them are now "symptom-free" after receiving the necessary treatment.

It added that infected individuals are kept under close observation by specialised medical teams, based on the World Health Organisation's guidelines.
