The UAE expressed its solidarity and condolences with Portugal following the derailment of the Glória funicular cable car in Lisbon, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) conveyed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the victims' families, the government and the people of Portugal over this tragedy, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

According to Reuters, the tragedy killed at least 16 people and injured 23 when the cable car crashed into a building on Wednesday, with Portuguese authorities still investigating the cause of the accident.
