The UAE Cybersecurity Council has successfully foiled 634 cyberattacks targetting government and private entities in the country.
In a statement released on national news agency Wam, the Council said the entities were targetted under a wider, global attack on Oracle Cloud systems that left around 140,000 entities compromised.
Approximately six million Oracle customer records globally, including sensitive user password data, were compromised in the attack.
Of the 634 breaches in the UAE, 30 were government entities and 13 were private accounts.
Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, Dr. Mohamed AlKuwaiti, explained that the breach on Oracle Cloud's SSO and LDAP systems was carried out by threat actor known as "rose 87168".
AlKuwaiti added that emergency cyber systems have been activated across the country in coordination with relevant authorities to safeguard the country's cyberspace from any threats.
The Council has urged all government and private institutions to enhance their cybersecurity defences, raise their cyber readiness levels, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
