UAE citizens and residents have been urged to participate in Flag Day today. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktom, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has instructed government bodies to raise the flag in unison at noon, to signify the country's unity. Thousands of flags have also been hoisted to spell out 'UAE' in a 'Flags Garden' at Kite Beach in Jumeirah to mark the occasion. The initiative is organised by Brand Dubai, a subsidiary of the Government of Dubai Media Office. Residents are encouraged to participate by taking photos of the 'Flags Garden' and sharing them with Brand Dubai via Instagram. Flag Day is marked annually on November 3, coinciding with the day His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan became president of the UAE.
