His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, took to social media to express his solidarity with France following the Notre-Dame fire.
In a tweet, the UAE royal described the incident as a "terrible night" and conveyed the UAE's unity with France in mourning the damage on the historic landmark.
"The world witnessed a terrible night with the burning of the historic Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris. We stand by our French friends and mourn the damage inflicted on one of the oldest and most famous world heritage landmarks."

In a Tweet, Dr. Anwar Gargash, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs described the incident as a "terrible catastrophe" and the historical landmark as "important to France and beyond".

Investigations on the source of the blaze are currently underway, with French President Emmanuel Macron announcing a global fundraiser to help rebuild the 850-year-old cathedral.
