Amateur shoots stunning 64 to lead the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship

Amateur Bryson Dechambeau is the surprise overnight leader after the opening day of the 2016 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. The 22-year-old American shot a near faultless 8 under par, 64, to sit one shot clear of Henrik Stenson and two ahead of World No3 Rory McIlroy. Dechambeau’s round included seven birdies and an eagle, and afterwards he expressed his gratitude at being handed an invitation to the tournament.

While not as spectacular as Dechambeau's round, McIlroy still managed eight birdies and two bogeys in an opening 66, six under par, and said afterwards that he was content with his day's work.
