Cricket: Gayle and Russell in West Indies World Cup squad

West Indies have named veteran Chris Gayle and all-rounder Andre Russell in their 15-member World Cup squad.

Notable exclusions are off-spinner Sunil Narine and fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who are both injured.  

There is also no place for in-form all-rounder Kieron Pollard.

Jason Holder will lead the side as they aim to win the 50-over World Cup for the first time since 1979.

The squad includes nine players that will be making their first appearance in the tournament, including emerging batting star Shimron Hetmyer.
